Why Propane Gas? Benefits & Uses
Propane gas is a low-carbon, clean energy alternative to gasoline and diesel fuel and recognized as such in the 1990 Clean Air Act.
The abundance of propane gas allows for it to be readily available at affordable costs for your residential and commercial propane uses and applications. Using propane ensures a reliable source of energy and results in less harmful emissions than gasoline or diesel fuel.
Propane is popular in Middle Georgia communities to fuel both homes and businesses.
What is Propane Gas?
Propane is a hydrocarbon (C3H8) and sometimes referred to as liquefied petroleum gas, LP-gas, or LPG. For convenience and efficiency, propane is stored and used in its liquid form. Propane is produced from both natural gas processing and crude oil refining, in roughly equal amounts from each source. Nearly 97% of propane consumed in the United States is produced in North America. It is nontoxic, colorless, and virtually odorless. As with natural gas, an identifying odor is added so the gas can be readily detected.
Benefits of Using Propane Gas
Multiple Uses
- Heating
- Water Heating
- Cooking
- Clothes Drying
- Swimming Pool Water Heating
- Hot Tub & Sauna Heating
- Emergency Generators
- Fuel Cars & Trucks
- Power Forklifts
Clean-Burning, Environmentally-Friendly
- Fuel can be stored safely in residential & commercial underground or aboveground tanks.
Operates Efficiently
- Some equipment can be as high as 96% efficient, meaning every dollar you spend, you get 96 cents worth of heat.
Heats water at one-half the cost of electricity.
No Retrofitting Required
- Equipment can be installed with special direct venting systems which do not need a chimney. This will save you money on retrofitting and unnecessary construction.
Sourced in USA
- Unlike competitive fuels, most of the propane used in the United States comes from North American sources.
